‘The Programme’ to be shown at Little Venice Film Festival

Friend of Poke, Sam Grierson’s newest short film ‘The Programme’ is an official selection at this year’s Little Venice Film Festival. Sam is the Customer Director at Kelvin Control Engineers, and also runs her own media production company called So Crocodile. Sam has written, directed and produced her own audioplays and has now written and directed The Programme.

We sponsored and designed the graphics and the logo for this powerful film. Getting to play a part in bringing Sam’s vision to life was an honour, but designing these film assets was also a first for Poke. Seeing it all come together in context has been a proud moment.

The Programme tells the story of Drum (“Subject 3756A/b1”) who has been chosen out of 4.3 million profiles to be interviewed by an organisation called The Programme. This organisation is made up of emotional intelligence robots on the subject of loneliness.

Throughout the film, Drum delves deeper into The Programme’s world. The Programme reminds us of our connections and perception of belonging, choice and identity within an increasingly disconnected world. It is about who we are and our understanding of neurodivergence.

Sam wrote this film to talk about grief and loneliness, as they’re often subjects that people avoid talking about. Through her work, Sam wanted to emphasise the human experience, whether you are neurodivergent or not.

For this project, we designed the film posters and marketing collateral. We also designed assets for use within the film, and our Creative Director Mark advised on art direction techniques to tell this story. Take a look below to see some of our designs:

Back in May, Mark attended the premiere of The Programme and it is incredible to see the positive response to this film since then. An incredible project that we loved getting the chance to sponsor and work on.

On working with Poke, Sam said:

“Poke are an absolute dream to work with. When I told them my vision for the film, they added their creative flair, technical expertise, innovative design insight and importantly real heart. A Creative Agency company who really ‘get it’.”

Congratulations to Sam and the team behind the film for this fantastic achievement. The Programme will be screened at Leicester Square as part of Little Venice Film Festival on the 22nd October, and available for free viewing on the 7th November.
