Our Graphic and Motion Designer, Becca, recently took a trip to Croatia and explored the city of Dubrovnik with a designer’s eye. From hand-painted graffiti and bold street art to historic signage and the iconic Game of Thrones filming locations, Dubrovnik is full of character. Every street offers a different mix of heritage, local culture and modern design, making it a brilliant place to explore for creative inspiration.
Here are a few of the designs, details and stickers that caught Becca’s eye during her trip. It’s always interesting to see how different cities express their identity through design.

Dubrovnik was amazing! I visited so many Game of Thrones locations (sadly, no dragons). But one of my favourite sites was the stickers!
Every lamppost, gutter, and corner was covered in stickers. I really loved seeing all the different styles they had, the illustrations and cool typography. Some were for bands, events, and, interestingly, some were travel stickers left behind by people on their holidays.Tiny little pieces of art scattered across the city.
Inspiration in Action
Becca draws inspiration from designs she sees out and about in lots of her design projects at Poke. Using her 3D animation expertise, Becca created a fun animation for Rainbow Dust to introduce one of their most popular products, ProGel, in a brand new size. This was the perfect opportunity to bring to life the new product with a playful story, showing how 4 becomes 1 to create ‘The Big Daddy’. 3D animation allowed us to achieve the scale, perspective and character that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
I draw a lot of my inspiration from the design I see out in the wild. I love expressive typography, playful illustrations, and the way they’re often used in raw, unpolished ways. It’s so easy to get caught up chasing polished outcomes.
That’s why I love these stickers so much. They’re not perfect, and they’re not trying to be. They’re just little bits of people’s creativity.
